Cleaning Eames Molded Plastic Chair
Eames molded plastic chair are durable and reasonably priced, making them a regular choice for patios, decks and outdoor gatherings. Deeply clean them before spring and summer each year, and entertain them by wiping them with a damp cloth. Bleach works best on all plastic chairs, but tries a non-visible area first to prevent discoloration of colored chairs. If discoloration occurs, use detergents without bleach
Test a colored stain for staining by dipping a cloth in bleach and apply it to a small hidden surface. Leave the bleach for 20 minutes and check the area for any color change. If discoloration occurs, do not use bleach and increase the amount of detergent to 2 tablespoons. Fill a bucket of 3/4 cup of bleach, 1 tbsp. detergent and a liter of hot water. Put on rubber gloves. Move the Eames molded plastic chair to a patio with access to a garden hose. If you do not have a hose to rinse, a clean bucket of water will work as well.
Dip the shed brush in the bucket and wash the Eames molded plastic chair from top to bottom. Concentrate scrubbers on stains and extremely dirty environments. Allow the cleaning solution to sit on the chair for 15 minutes. Rinse the chair with a garden hose or empty the bucket and fill it with clean water. Pour the water over the chair or dip a cloth into it and wipe the entire surface. Wipe the chair with a new cloth or let it air dry.
